The Owners

John Duffield
Mr and Mrs Duffield have owned Markfield Equestrian Centre since 1982. Mr Duffield oversees the whole business, while Mrs Duffield runs the show office on show days.
Yard Manager / Instructor

Paul Crane
Paul is currently the Yard Manager, and has been working at MEC since October 1997. Paul began riding at about the age of seven. He had regular lessons, and began working with horses after leaving school in 1995. Paul works full time, currently teaching three late nights, private lessons and group lessons on a Saturday. Paul also looks after our summer school groups, and summer activities. He is popular with children and teenage riders.
Instructors

Phil has been teaching at MEC since 1995, and working with horses since 1989. He began learning to ride at the age of eleven, and bought his first horse at sixteen. He has competed at a local level. He has known and worked with Paul for about sixteen years! He currently works full time, teaching two late nights, Saturdays, and private lessons three days a week. He also looks after the livery accounts. He is great at giving confidence to nervous riders.

Sharon Freer
Sharon has been working at MEC since January 2006. She has been riding since the age of four, and competes in dressage and showing. Sharon runs MEC's pony club on a Monday evening and helps to train our NVQ students. Sharon teaches on a Friday evening and some Saturday groups, and some private lessons. Sharon has two children who both ride at MEC.

Simone has been riding since she was eleven years old. She had lessons at Markfield, and has been working with horses since she left school. Simone has been working at MEC for just over two years. Simone has recently completed her NVQ level 2 and would like to now progress to being an instructor. Simone owns a horse called Ollie. NVQ Trainees.
Sam has just finished school this summer and has enrolled on our NVQ training scheme for level 2. Sam has been riding for about nine years and had weekly lessons at MEC prior to her employment. Her favourite school horse is Jazz. Charlotte has just completed school this summer and is ready for the challenge of our NVQ level 2 scheme. Charlotte has been riding for about five years and was a client here before being employed. Her favourite school horse is Ronnie.
