The Owners
John Duffield
Mr and Mrs Duffield have owned Markfield Equestrian Centre since 1982. Mr Duffield oversees the whole business, while Mrs Duffield runs the show office on show days.
Yard Manager / Instructor
Paul Crane
Mr Paul Crane – Paul is currently the Yard Manager, and has been working at MEC since October 1997. Paul began riding at about the age of seven. He had regular lessons, and began working with horses after leaving school in 1995. Paul works full time, currently teaching three late nights, private lessons and group lessons on a Saturday. Paul also looks after our summer school groups, and summer activities. He is popular with children and teenage riders.
Instructors
Mrs Sharon Freer – Sharon has been working at MEC since January 2006. She has been riding since the age of four, and competes in dressage and showing. Sharon runs MEC’s pony club on a Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Sharon teaches some private lessons and group lessons on a Monday and Friday evening. Yard staff Mr Simon Joel Mr Simon Joel – Simon began working at MEC in Spring 2011 having previously learnt to ride here as a child, having lessons from Phil and Paul. Simon currently owns one horse and competes at a local level.
