This gives the children the experience of looking after a pony for the day.
During the morning the children will learn stable management, including learning how to groom and tack up their named pony. Children will then ride their pony in a fun activity, for example gymkhana games. After lunch the children will take part in more stable management which may include, mucking out, bathing, tack cleaning etc
Pony/Horse Care Week
Pony Care Week runs from Monday to Friday and offers children a full course in stable management including dressage, handy pony, lunging, plaiting, grooming and bandaging. Riders are given a named pony/horse to look after for the week and will ride the pony/horse each day. Friendly gymkhana and show jumping competitions are all part of this fun filled week. At the end of the week rosettes & trophies are given out for best turned out ponies and to winners of the show jumping and pony games.
Pony Camp
The pony camp covers everything as per pony/horse care week with the addition of overnight accommodation in tents at MEC. All food and drinks are provided and evening activities are arranged for the children. Last year’s activities included swimming, bowling and a karaoke evening.
