Pony Club

Would you like to join Markfield Equestrian Centre's Pony Club?

Pony Club

We meet on a Monday evening from 4.30 - 6.30pm for under 10's, and from 6.30 - 8.30pm for over 10's.

We learn all about caring for a horse or pony (you do not have to own your own!). You will have the opportunity to learn about mucking out, feeding, grooming, plaiting, bandaging, care of equipment such as your saddle and bridle, and work towards and gain achievement badges, as well as having fun playing games, quiz's and making new friends!

We also hold Centre League Competitions such as Showjumping, Gymkhana Games and Handy Pony, were MEC Pony Club Members have the opportunity to enter and take part, and compete alongside other Pony Club Members for an end of year trophy!

The cost is just £6 for the 2 hours, plus your yearly subscription of £22 to the Pony Club.

If you would like to join us, just come along on a Monday night.

Read what two of our Pony club members have to say.

My name is Jess. I am eleven years old and I have been going to Markfield Pony Club for about a year. I have learnt so much about grooming, handling, mucking out and lots more! At Pony Club, we sometimes do riding, so we get an opportunity to practice things like road safety, how to mount properly, and points of the horse. I have been riding for a year, and Pony Club has really helped me improve my way of handling horses and ponies. The competitions are the BEST and the own-a-pony days, weeks, and camps are not to be missed! I have done a pony care week, and it is the best thing I've ever done!! At Pony Club, we do all sorts of contests and horse quizess, and we learn so much every week. I have made loads and loads of new friends,
and I think Pony Club is amazing! I highly recomend it to any age, boy or girl.

My name is Luke and I am 12 years old. I go to Pony Club because I
want to learn about stable management. I enjoy grooming, trotting up
and riding. I will hopefully soon get two badges, one for grooming
and D-Test (riding). I have made lots of friends and learnt alot
about caring for a pony however I am the only boy and would really
like some other boys to join. People think mucking out is disgusting
but I enjoy it and it doesn't really smell!
Pony Club do lots of event days such as races and jumping which are
great fun. The races are my favourite as I get a chance to canter and
gallop!
